Thank you! The eyes are actually gold, but due to the resolution of the image on DA, you really can't see that I added gold in her eyes. Looks red at this resolution. Her hair is black, but I added two types of highlights; 1 from the moon as the light reflects off of her dark hair and 2 just some "cool" streaks of white/grey/color - I find it sort of alluring when a woman has various streaks in her hair. I also find it beautiful when an older woman allows some streaks of grey hair to show - adds character. Glad you like the image!
Thank you for the complement and the critique! Perhaps I should have added something 'more" to the necklace. I felt it was just enough for the piece. I was trained to add just enough to enhance but not to overindulge the work. But you have given me something to think about in the future. I always learn from other's critiques which is wonderful! It is a wonderful piece. You can see where I may have added some more style to it in my other works that are similar. I submitted 4 pieces to the competition. Maybe I'll create a whole new piece with a new model with a dynamic necklace that will be the iconic piece in the painting. Personally, I believe every piece should have some sort of iconic imagery to the image. In this one, it was the lips and the moon.
